GKN Loses Takeover Battle

British engineering firm GKN loses its independence after shareholders approve a hostile $11bn takeover from investment firm Melrose. The protracted takeover battle has prompted concern from some UK politicians, while unions have warned GKN could be broken up and sold to the highest bidder. Paul Everitt, chief executive of aerospace and defence industry group ADS, explains why he thinks the deal is a bad one.
