Flood waters continue to rise in Mozambique

Newsday

Available for over a year

Flood waters are still rising in Mozambique in the wake of Cyclone Idai, submerging large swathes of the country. Rescue work has continued overnight to reach those who've been left stranded. New Zealand's prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, has said she will never utter the name of the gunman who killed fifty people at mosques in Christchurch. In an emotional address to parliament, she urged New Zealanders to remember those who died, rather than someone she described as a terrorist who sought notoriety. Do you need to expand your political vocabulary of African English? A "Dictionary of African Politics" has been released and might just do the trick. An unconventional compilation of political figures and terminology, it includes terms such as "don't kubeba", "legislooters" and "Rhodes must fall".
