What is 'Beyond Fake News'?

The BBC is launching a huge initiative called ‘Beyond Fake News’. With the aim to find ways to address this increasingly pressing issue, the BBC is holding events, media literacy programmes and bringing you stories from across the world, through our own network of journalists looking at the spread of fake news. Israeli troops have clashed with Hamas militants during a raid inside the Gaza Strip. Hamas said Israeli Special Forces killed a militant commander. Israel said one of its army officers was also killed. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, seven opposition parties have announced a joint candidate to fight the Presidential election in six week’s time. Businessman Martin Fayulu will take on President Joseph Kabila’s chosen successor Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary.
