Key US Senators Back Embattled Kavanaugh

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh, now seems certain to be confirmed by the US Senate on Saturday. Republican Senator Susan Collins was expected to be a swing voter. Not only did she back Judge Kavanaugh, she excoriated what she said were the political interest groups who had fought tooth and nail to stop him. We get analysis from Politico's Daniel Lippman and Carl Tobias, Professor of Law at the University of Richmond. Also in the programme, ahead of elections in Brazil on Sunday, the BBC's Daniel Gallas reports on a new school teaching politicians how to fund and run an ethical campaign. Plus, we hear from Vijay Gupta, the violinist who has won a major award for taking classical music into the slums of Los Angeles. And as UK publishers produce more than 500 hardback titles for Christmas, how healthy is the British book trade? We leaf through some volumes in a London bookshop. Roger Hearing is joined on the programme by Robert Milliken, Australia Correspondent with The Economist in Sydney. (Picture: US Senator Susan Collins speaking to reporters. Credit: Reuters)
