Twitter Posts Its First Quarterly Profit

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Twitter has reported its first quarterly net profit, helped by video advert sales growth. Ben Parr is a journalist and entrepreneur, and tells us how the social network has managed to turn its fortunes around. Also in the programme, Italians go to the polls next month to elect a new prime minister. Roberto d'Alimonte is professor of political science at Luiss School of Government in Rome, and explains how much the economy will be on voters' minds. We have a report from Sierra Leone on what happened after a pastor unearthed one of the largest diamonds ever found in west Africa, promising to share the proceeds with the poor village community from which it came. The Freemasons have placed full-page advertisements in several British newspapers calling for an end to what they see as discrimination against their members. Andrew Prescott is professor of literature and humanities at the University of Glasgow, and discusses the history of the Freemasons. Plus our reporter in Stockholm explains how a new ban on racist or sexist advertising in public spaces will work. (Picture: Twitter logos. Picture credit: Getty Images.)
