First UK Interest Rate Rise in 10 Years

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The Bank of England has announced an interest rate rise from 0.25% to 0.5%. Our regular economic commentator Roger Bootle from Capital Economics tells us if he thinks it was the right move. Also in the programme, as electric carmaker Tesla announces a record $620m quarterly loss, we ask auto industry expert Christian Stadler of the Warwick Business School how much more appetite investors have for such big losses. We have a report from Senegal about a scheme in the country where the International Organisation for Migration offers a free ticket home for people who tried to travel to Europe for work, but got stuck somewhere on the way. Plus, as Saudi Arabia announces plans to introduce a tourist visa for visitors there, Simon Calder of The Independent tells us what the country has to offer. (Picture: Bank of England.
