Photographer Alan Schaller ‘London has the best light in the world’

Listed Londoner

Available for over a year

Alan Schaller is a British street photographer best known for his striking black and white images, shot in cities around the world. His work is defined by strong geometry, his use of lights and shadows and an ability to turn everyday scenes into something cinematic. He has over 1.1 million people on Instagram - and largely built his career on the app. However, in recent years Alan has spoken about his concerns about AI and what he sees as the decline of serious photography online. This has led him to develop his own app called Irys. Irys hides ‘likes’ and follower numbers to reduce the pressure to seek validation for your work - as well was real life career opportunities for photographers. It describes itself as being for “anyone who cares about photography as an art form rather than disposable content.”
