TRANSLATION: According to Port Isaac RNLI it needs £900,000 to improve the facilities in the boathouse and to convert the flat above the charity's shop in the village into a crew room with a welfare facility. Senior helmsman Damien Bolton said the improved facility "would give us a safe haven for the crew and the casualties we bring home". Planning permission was approved in 2024 and the six-to-eight-month project is set to begin in the autumn. During this time the lifeboat will be operational from the top of the village. The boathouse houses the D class lifeboat, a tractor, and the personal protective equipment the 18 seagoing volunteers need on missions. TRANSLATION The In Line of Light for Ukraine event in Truro last weekend was funded by Cornwall Council's Resettlement Service. According to Cornwall Council more than 670 Cornish households had opened their doors through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, providing safety for more than 1,270 people forced to flee the war. Iryna Crernenko, an organiser of the event, said the event was to say thank you to the Cornish community and share the Ukrainian culture with the community. TRANSLATION The beavers were part of Cornwall's first fully-licensed release organised by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. According to the Trust "Though they are released as pairs, there was no guarantee they would stay together, so this is a really exciting early sign." It added the footage showed the pair were "hard at work" building their first dam, which was "another positive sign that they're settling into an area already". The Cornwall Wildlife Trust released two pairs of beavers at a trust nature reserve in mid-Cornwall, within the Par and Fowey river catchment, at the beginning of February. Beavers became extinct in the wild in England more than 400 years ago. That’s all from me, have a good week.
