Hidden East YorkshireAvailable for over a year
The legendary Supermarine Spitfire made its maiden flight on March 5, 1936 with test pilot Joseph 'Mutt' Summers from Hull at the controls. It went on to be one of the most famous aircraft ever for its exploits during World War II. One of the men who flew the Spitfire was Bob Morton from Hull, who for a short spell was wingman to fighter ace Douglas Bader. In later years Bob was a childhood neighbour of Sally Fairfax, who pays tribute to the city's Spitfire connections.
