'My baby was in an induced coma for 7 days'

Available for over a year

A mum from Warwickshire whose baby was born with a rare condition is seeking to reassure other parents in her position that support is available. Emma Connor, 33 , from Upper Lighthorne, had known something was wrong with Vinnie when a 20-week scan during her pregnancy, showed his stomach was empty and he had not been swallowing amniotic fluid. From that scan he was diagnosed with Oesophageal Atresia (OA) and Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF), meaning that his oesophagus was not connected to his stomach. OA/TOF affects one in 3,500 births globally and during an an awareness week about the condition, Connor said she wanted other parents to know that there is support out there. Emma has been speaking to BBC CWR's Hannah Griffiths.
