Finger prick trial could detect Alzheimer's

Available for over a year

The study will look for harmful proteins in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. A trial is underway among the over 60s, to see if their risk of developing the disease can be detected with a finger prick blood test. The international study will look for markers in the blood which accumulate in the brain of individuals who develop Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia. The trial will help identify early signs of the disease and increase patients life span. Fiona Andrews, who is from Dementia Forward spoke to Amy Oakden.
