Are local pubs under threat?
Available for over a year
The rising cost of living continues to put pressure on high streets and hospitality, with higher energy bills, wages and taxes forcing thousands of venues to close in recent years. The industry has warned that a planned Business Rates rise this April could cost 15,000 jobs. But there’s been some welcome news, with the Government expected to water down the increase for pubs. Jenna Holford, landlady of The Blue Bell Inn in Kidsgrove, explains how a rise in rates could threaten the future of her pub. Image Credit: Getty Images.
