Blackler's Santa: A City’s Christmas Memory

Remember standing in line to view the giant Santa in Blacklers, riding the rocking horse and seeing the animatronics. The 18-foot-tall iconic Santa once towered over shoppers at Blackler’s department store every winter from 1957 to 1988. Blackler's Christmas Winter Wonderland became a must-see experience for everyone in Liverpool and became a part of our history. The Blacklers Santa has a new home in the Museum of Liverpool’s atrium, where every year since 2016 he has continued to be a Liverpool festive tradition, with parents and grandparents remembering him in his heyday and sharing their love with their children and grandchildren.
