Chrissie Hynde was born in Ohio, but has called London home since she was in her early 20s. Before embarking on a music career, she had a stint at an architectural firm, wrote what she described as ‘half-baked philosophical drivel’ for the NME, and was a one-time shop assistant at Vivienne Westwood’s famous King’s Road boutique, Sex. It was in 1978 that Chrissie co-founded The Pretenders and she’s been at the helm ever since. In fact, she’s the band’s only continuous member, and has sold an estimated 130 million records worldwide. Chrissie Hynde revealed her favourite haunts, memories, pet hates and everything in between with Robert Elms in September 2015:
