Melanie Blake is originally from Stockport in Greater Manchester but moved to London in her late teens to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Initially she worked as camera assistant on Top of the Pops, and after that got work as a journalist, despite having no experience in either profession. Along the way she collected celebrity contacts and used them to open an acting PR agency, which primarily represented soap actresses. In 2018, Melanie made the decision focus on a writing career.
