Just Jane: Fred and Harold's flying memorial dream
Secret LincolnshireAvailable for over a year
In a quiet corner of a wartime Lincolnshire airfield, it's hoped a Lancaster bomber will be restored to airworthy condition. NX611, better known as 'Just Jane', was bought by Fred and Harold Panton as a tribute to their brother Christopher who was one of more than 55,000 Bomber Command aircrew lost during World War II. Now under the leadership of Fred's grandson Andrew Panton, the project at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby is more than halfway to its 10-year goal of returning a third Lancaster to the skies.
