Remembering Rick Rescorla in Hayle

Julie Skentelbery

Available for over a year

Rick Rescorla was born in Hayle, Cornwall in 1939 and became a US citizen in the 1960s. At the time of the attacks on 11 September 2001 he was working as head of security at Morgan Stanley, who occupied 20 floors of the south tower at the World Trade Center. He helped more than 2,500 employees leave the building and was last seen on the 10th floor looking for more people to assist. The 62-year-old was one of 2,605 people who died when the two towers collapsed. His body was never recovered. Today a small ceremony was held beside the memorial to his courage in his home town, Trevor Smitheram explains why Rick Rescorla needs to be remembered 24 years since 9/11.
