Available for over a year
Before the war started, 28-year-old Hanya Aljamal was an English teacher working in Gaza and applying to universities in the US to do a master’s in international development. Her life looks a bit different now. She lives in Deir al-Balah, less than ten miles from Gaza City, and works for an aid organisation. For a week, Hanya has sent us voice notes, describing what her days are like. Since international journalists are not allowed into Gaza, we rely on the testimony of those who are there to tell us what is going on and to understand what life is like. You can hear more from Hanya in “Currently – One Week in Gaza”, also on BBC Sounds.
