'We have the biggest bison herd in the country'

Farmwatch

Available for over a year

A Leicestershire farm has fought hard to build the largest herd of bison in the country. Bouverie Lodge Bison Farm in Nether Broughton near Melton has over 70 North American Bison roaming the fields. Ruth Wakeling and her husband run the farm which sells bison steaks and Venison joints to the public, and even serves bison burgers from its own cafe. BBC Leicester's Ady Dayman went to meet them. A UK government spokesperson said: "Our commitment to farming and food security is steadfast, which is why we've allocated a record £11.8bn to sustainable farming and food production over this parliament and appointed former NFU president Baroness Minette Batters to recommend new reforms to boost farmers profits."
