‘A medieval mayor and a Leicester murder scandal’

Secret Leicestershire

Available for over a year

In medieval Leicester, brothers Walter and John Bushby went on the run from the authorities following suspicions they were involved in a terrible crime. They sought sanctuary in two of Leicester’s medieval churches - perhaps not especially unusual for the time, except that one of the men was a former bailiff and mayor of Leicester, and the crime in question was a scandalous murder of a local man. BBC Leicester’s Ben Jackson uncovers the story with archaeologist Mathew Morris. Produced by Pete Wardman.
