SeriesThe USA in the 20th century

The United States and the economic boom

Bitesize GCSE History

Available for over a year

This series is all about American politics and society in the 20th century. In this second episode of nine, Datshiane and Katie will be focusing on the development of consumerism and mass production, and the government policies that contributed to a time of economic boom for the United States in the 1920s. They'll define 'boom' and look further into two of the themes threading through this series that feature strongly in this episode: capitalism and the economy. It was a period of time when the vast majority of businesses were doing well—sales were high, people’s wages increased, and unemployment was low. But it also co-existed with a time of huge inequalities in society. We’ll be sending our time-traveling Bitesize reporter back to the 1920s to find out more. Along the way, we’ll be sharing revision tips. Remember, if you think it’s useful to make notes, please do, and feel free to press pause and rewind whenever you need. We’ll also have a short summary and a test to wrap up. Suitable for AQA, Eduqas and OCR A.
