Moorgate tube crash: Dramatising the disaster 50 years on

London Uncovered

Available for over a year

50 years ago 43 people were killed, and 74 injured, after a packed rush-hour tube train smashed into a dead-end tunnel at Moorgate station. It's an event that has both a personal and professional connection to former journalist Laurence Marks. Back in 1975, Laurence was working for the Sunday Times and was tasked with investigating the cause of the tragedy. His father was also killed in the crash. Now, Laurence has co-written a two-part radio play for Drama on 4, alongside writer Maurice Gran. They've been talking to BBC Radio London's Eddie Nestor about what happened half a century ago, and why they've now decided to retell this story. (Image credit: Getty Images)
