56. January - Starting crops for 2025

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. We're starting the year with low temperatures so care is needed to leave the ground undisturbed and retain the soil structure. It's a good time to start seeds off in the greenhouse or indoors for the new season - broad beans and sweet pea seeds are cast into compost sprinkled plastic bags to germinate, and root trainers and pots made ready to receive them once the shoots are visible. Terry's also keen to start his cabbages and lettuce off so he can eat off the plot as soon as possible. If you have a question about your crops you can email [email protected] Producer: Lynda Shahwan
