Floods leaves river 'decimated' by plastic waste
Available for over a year
The aftermath of flooding has left land alongside the River Wreake through Leicester covered with waste plastic. Volunteer litter picks have been organised along the length of the river to help clear plastic packaging, bags and bottles left hanging from trees and shrubbery along the riverbank. Chris Desai from Leicester based UOcean environmental charity told BBC Leicester reporter Helen McCarthy that what the river has thrown up in the flood is actually what's been lying at the bottom of the river for years.
