Victor Wembanyama’s chess game in a New York park

Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

NBA star Victor Wembanyama playing one-on-one with fans in a New York park is something you would not expect – especially when it was not basketball he was playing, but chess. But, whilst in New York with San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama did exactly that after posting on his social media asking if anyone wanted to play him at chess. Dylan Rittman was one of the players who went to take on Wembanyama in Washington Square Park and he tells Sportshour’s Katie Smith about his unlikely duel in the park.
