What if the Moon didn’t exist?

CrowdScience

Available for over a year

Listener Vidya from California contacted CrowdScience after an evening drive with her family during a full moon. They realised how much we all take the Moon for granted and they wondered how much we would miss it if Earth didn’t have a moon. What effect would that have on the tides and, if we didn’t have tides, would there even be life on our planet? Astronomer Neil Comins from the University of Maine has written a book called What if the Moon Didn’t Exist? and he seemed like the perfect person to ask. Presenter Anand Jagatia asks Neil to consider what life would be like if we’d never had a Moon - or if the Moon were to suddenly vanish... (Photo: Earth and Moon Credit: Rob Atkins via Getty Images)
