Leicestershire's Matt Hampson turns 40

Available for over a year

This November sees an extraordinary man who is one of Leicestershire's most famous names turn 40. In 2005 Matt Hampson was paralysed from the neck down and breathing through a ventilator following an accident in training with the England Under-21 rugby squad. At that point it seemed unlikely Matt would ever make it to 40 years old. But he has created one of the leading recovery and rehabilitation centres in the country, giving bespoke and incredible treatment to sportspeople across Leicestershire and the East Midlands. The Matt Hampson Foundation's 'Get Busy Living Centre’ offers physical and emotional support for young people following serious injury towards a return to education, employment or sport, or in adjusting to their new life. Matt has been speaking to BBC Leicester's Adam Whitty as he reaches this milestone.
