Back of the net to over the net: Diego Forlan’s sporting switch

Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

Former Uruguay striker Diego Forlan has made a switch that means he's taking on a whole new ball game. Forlan made his name on the football pitch playing for clubs including Manchester United, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Internacional, as well as being named the best player at the 2010 Fifa World Cup. But at the age of 45, he’s swapped one type of volley for another as he makes his debut in professional tennis. Forlan has been given a wildcard to compete alongside Argentinean Federico Coria in the tennis men's doubles at the Uruguay Open, and he says it’s been a long time in the making.
