Cult leader Mark Christopher was sentenced to seven years in prison for conspiring to kidnap the senior Essex coroner, Lincoln Brookes. Three of his followers, Sean and Shiza Harper, and Matthew Martin were imprisoned for 30 months for their part in the attempted kidnap in April 2023. But how are people drawn in to joining a cult?
