1Xtra's Future Figures

Available for over a year

As Part of Black History Month 1Xtra once again celebrates its Future Figures. Future Figures is a way to recognise those members who are giving back to the Black community, and a time to celebrate the countless acts that are taking place up and down the country today by those who are helping to create the black history of tomorrow. Brent writes: Over the past nine years, I have had the privilege of owning and operating a podcast studio that has become a cornerstone for the Black British community. My journey has been driven by a deep commitment to amplifying the voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream media. Through my work, I have had the honour of collaborating with youth workers, activists, healthcare professionals, mentors, and charities who are making a tangible difference in our community. My studio has not just been a space for recording; it has been a hub for creativity, education, and empowerment. I have worked closely with numerous podcasters, helping them bring their visions to life, from the initial concept to the final product. By providing professional production services, I have enabled these creators to focus on what they do best—sharing stories, spreading awareness, and driving positive change. Beyond the technical aspects of production, I have taken pride in mentoring creatives, guiding them through the often complex world of media and content creation. My studio has been a platform where ideas are nurtured, voices are empowered, and impactful conversations are born. Whether it's producing a podcast that tackles social justice issues, supporting a charity in reaching a broader audience, or helping a mentor share their wisdom with the next generation, my focus has always been on serving the community with integrity and passion. Through this work, I have witnessed the power of storytelling and the profound impact it can have on both individuals and the wider community. My commitment to this cause is unwavering, and I am dedicated to continuing this work, ensuring that the voices of the Black British community are heard, respected, and celebrated. This is the sole reason behind co-founding THE NEW BLXCK, it is the next stage of my service to the community.
