23. March: Planting out the Peas

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth gardening advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. It's time to take the peas from the root trainers and into the soil. Terry has advice on preparing the ground ready for the young pea plants and how best to protect them so they can establish themselves. Over in the brassica bed it's time to put the cabbages under their protective mesh and add Terry's recipe of lime, mushroom compost and volcanic ash in order to avoid the dreaded club root. To help plan your growing year you can download Terry's Crop Calendar, search for Terry Walton's Plotcast online.
