Labour has secured an emphatic double by-election victory in two seats that had large Conservative majorities. They beat the Tories by more than 6,000 votes in Wellingborough, in Northamptonshire; and by more than 2,500 votes in Kingswood, in South Gloucestershire. The swing from Conservative to Labour in Wellingborough was the biggest in any post-war election. The party also overturned a 11,220 Conservative majority to win Chris Skidmore’s former seat in Kingswood. So what do the results of these two by-elections tell us? The BBC's elections expert, Sir John Curtice, takes us through the key points in this episode of our 5 Questions On podcast. Image Credit: BBC
