Rubble from the Bristol Blitz was shipped to the US to construct Manhattan Hollywood actor Cary Grant was born in Horfield in January 1904. He had relatives whose homes in the city were bombed during the Bristol blitz of the Second World War and rubble from the wreckage was shipped across the Atlantic to help build parts of Manhattan. Historian Sheila Hannon tells BBC Radio Bristol’s Joe Lemer more.
