This tiny Cornish church was closed because of bat poo

James Churchfield

Available for over a year

St Moran Church in Lamorran was closed for nine years because of the damaging effects of constant bat droppings. The Grade 2 listed Norman church was closed in 2014 after the bats were able to enter the church through Victorian cladding and fixtures and fittings began to severely deteriorate. With the help of the Bats In Churches project, modifications took place to protect the historic building - including building a special bat loft. The Bats-in-Churches Project is a a joint venture between Natural England, Historic England, the Churches Conservation Trust, the Church of England and the Bat Conservation Trust - all funded by the Heritage lottery.
