14. Winter Preparation and Planning

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. As the clocks change and gardening hours and opportunities decrease, Terry has advice on preparing your plot for next season while looking after your winter vegetables. Its worth the effort, as Terry says "an hour done in the autumn savies six in the spring" Looking ahead to spring, he has advice on what to plant alongside your vegetables to encourage helpful insects like bees and ladybirds who will keep some of the more destructive insects away. Plants like comfrey, borage, nasturtiums and the poached egg plant will look beautiful and help you keep a natural balance in your insect population. Terry will be back with monthly Plotcasts over the winter months to help you keep an eye on your crops. You can send any questions to [email protected]
