How an Australian man and his dog survived at sea for two months

Newshour

Available for over a year

An Australian sailor has survived for two months in the Pacific Ocean by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater. Tim Shaddock and his dog Bella left Mexico for French Polynesia in April, but their boat was damaged by a storm several weeks later. They were rescued by a trawler this week after a helicopter spotted them. Newshour's Rebecca Kesby spoke to Professor Mike Tipton, who is Professor of Human and Applied Physiology at the University of Portsmouth. She asked: Did Tim survive by luck or skill?
