Yesterday, We discovered that Sunderland's Empire Cinema closed with immediate effect following the collapse of its parent company. The Empire chain has fallen into administration yesterday after suffering during the pandemic and seeing dwindling numbers of customers. This is very sad news for the local industry. The idea of having a cinema to use in our community is very important. It's a opportunity to see the latest film or a day out with the family. Tyneside Cinema in a independent that is based in Newcastle City Centre and is a registered charity that requires partly on donations to keep it's screens alive.
