Leicester assessing damage after flash floods

Ady Dayman

Available for over a year

Householders in some areas of Leicester are assessing the damage this morning after flash flooding sent water into homes, cars and businesses. Sudden heavy thunderstorms at teatime yesterday overloaded drains - with the Evington and Oadby areas particularly badly affected. BBC Radio Leicester reporter Andrew Fewster spoke to local resident Kareem who is a doctor at Glenfield Hospital, and Matt Cane from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue tells Ady Dayman how the service was inundated with emergency calls as torrential rain struck the area.
