Available for over a year

It's more than five years since the UK government first promised guidance for schools in relation to transgender pupils. And while the Department for Education says it will finally publish new guidance for schools in England this term, for many this can't come soon enough. It can be a divisive and sensitive matter for schools, teachers, pupils and parents .. what to do if a child is questioning their gender identity and who knows the best steps to take. Teaching unions say schools are working in a vacuum. For this episode of 5 Minutes On, the BBC's LGBT and Identity Correspondent Lauren Moss finds out how schools are supporting pupils, while balancing the wishes of parents, as they wait for formal guidance from the government.
