'It was a no-brainer to make this boat electric'
Ben Jackson on BBC Radio LeicesterAvailable for over a year
Ashby Canal is reknowned as one of the most beautiful canals on the whole network. Without any locks, it winds it's way through the gently rolling countryside of Leicestershire, and was once an industrial highway carrying goods into the heart of the English countryside. In a few weeks time a brand new boat will take to the waters for the first time. It's not just any boat either - this one will be fully electric, and will be based at Sutton Wharf, built especially to take people on cruises along the cut. Ben Jackson went to the boat builders to see how it's taking shape.
