'Last month my childcare cost over £800, I only earnt £1000'

Ady Dayman

Available for over a year

Families across Leicester have told us they're struggling to afford the rising costs of childcare as data suggests that the average bill for a child under two stands at nearly fifteen thousand pounds a year. A report by the charity, Coram, says average costs have risen by 5.9% in the past year while the availability of places has also dropped. The government says parents claiming universal credit are to get more help with childcare costs, to encourage people back into work. Stacey Sherwood is a single-mum of two from Leicester.
