Ben Fryer

Available for over a year

Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit has produced four short films to help parents talk to their children about the dangers of carrying a knife. It follows research by the unit that found 69 per cent of parents in Essex were concerned about knife crime in their local area, and two thirds of parents are also worried about their children becoming a victim of knife crime. BBC Essex's Ben Fryer spoke to Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime commissioner for Essex and Chair of the Violence and Vulnerability Unit, and James Pearson, the Youth Offending Team Manager.
