Hundreds without phone or internet in Danbury

Dave Monk

Available for over a year

Four hundred customers have been left without landline phones or internet after an exchange box was badly damaged in a road traffic accident. The disruption has also affected the Danbury Medical Centre, where some staff have had to work from other locations in order to access patients’ records. BBC Essex also understands that a nearby petrol station has only been able to accept cash payments. BBC Essex's Dave Monk speaks to Dr Caroline Dollery from the Danbury Medical Centre. Openreach said in a statement: “Our engineers have been working hard to repair a cabinet on Maldon Road, Danbury after it was badly damaged in a road traffic accident in the early hours of 27 January, affecting broadband and phone services to around 400 customers. “We attended and made the area safe, but repairs of this nature are complex. We’re doing our best to get everyone back online as quickly as possible and hope to have repairs complete by 31 January. “We understand how frustrating this must be for anyone is affected; we encourage anyone experiencing any disruption with their phone or broadband service to report it to their service provider who will then inform us”.
