Dorset villagers raise £400,000 to buy a pub

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A group of west Dorset residents are hoping to reopen their village pub in just under four months' time, after it shut nearly three years ago. The Martyrs Inn in Tolpuddle closed its doors in February 2020 but could open again by May, according to the local community. So far, they've raised £400,000 to buy the pub. Barrie Lovelock, who's part of the campaign, told BBC Radio Solent's Steve Harris village life hasn't been the same without it.
