'Christmas was confusing...we'd never seen the snow before'

Ady Dayman

Available for over a year

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the expulsion of thousands of Asians from Uganda who were given just 90 days to leave the country by dictator Idi Amin. Thousands arrived here in the UK with little more than £50 and a suitcase of clothes, not really knowing a lot about the culture or traditions of the country. What was it like to arrive here in Autumn and experience the UK's colder weather for the first time, and discover new and unfamiliar traditions like Christmas? This is Indira Mistry's story - she's been talking to Rupal Rajani.
