Dorset boy 'nearly died' after strep A misdiagnosis

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

The family of a one-year-old Dorset boy say he nearly died after doctors failed to spot a severe strep A infection. Dad Paul Silva, from West Parley, says his son Joseph was diagnosed with less serious conditions by both a GP and Bournemouth Hospital in November. But Joseph was later placed in an induced coma due to sepsis, Mr Silva says. Joseph's surgery has told us it won't comment due to patient confidentiality. University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust says it's begun an investigation but has declined to comment further.
