"She was side-lined at every opportunity"

Ben Jackson on BBC Radio Leicester

Available for over a year

New film "The Lost King" tells the discovery of King Richard III in Leicester 10 years ago. Featuring Steve Coogan, it tells the story of Philippa Langley, the woman whose sole aim it was to find the remains of the last Plantaganet King. Ben sat down with Steve Coogan and Philippa Langley to talk about her role in the project. In a statement, the University of Leicester has told us that the University pledged the first major payment for the excavation and underwrote the dig. Whilst they appreciate the work of the film is on real events, it is a work of fiction and that Philippa was not sidelined by the University during the project. The University made an offer to The Lost King production team, in good faith, to help it establish the correct factual basis of the project that discovered and identified Richard III. This offer was not taken up.
