Boris Johnson resigns: What's the reaction in Africa?

The news of Boris Johnson's resignation as Conservative party leader has triggered a worldwide reaction, and in African in particular, where people have been taken aback by the sudden nature of his political demise. BBC Monitoring's Beverly Ochieng in Nairobi gives an insight into reaction across the continet. She says that most of the reaction so far has been seen in the press and on social media, but until the new leader is announced, it probably won't be clear how much damage his fall from grace has inflicted on the reputation of the Conservative party. "There's been an awkward silence from African leaders. There's been more vibrant reaction in the press and social media where Boris was trending all day. There was a tweet from [a leading] Kenyan satirist who said Rwanda has offered Johnson asylum - a jab at the controversial migrant deal between the UK and Rwanda under Johnson's leadership."
