Two PSNI officers have been under investigation by the police ombudsman for over three years after they allegedly photographed and videoed the body of a young man who had taken his own life and shared the images online. We understand the young man's genitals had been exposed. An officer is currently suspended. “We expect the highest standards of professionalism and integrity from all of our police officers and staff in accordance with the standards contained in the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Code of Ethics. Breaches of the law and the Code will be thoroughly investigated and robustly dealt with in accordance with the procedures laid out in our Conduct Regulations. “I would encourage anyone who suspects a member of our Service of abusing their position, in any manner, to report it to us, or to the Ombudsman's Office. You can be assured that the matter will be investigated thoroughly.”
