George Millum was the Head Gardener at Great Maytham Hall in Rolvenden, in Kent, when author Frances Hodgson Burnett lived there. In a new book his grandson Dr. Trevor Millum chronicles his family's connection to the classic children's story The Secret Garden. He also paints a picture of life in horticultural service between the wars and post WWII, by transcribing his father's detailed gardening diaries of the era.
